Both in long-term physical activity and in strength or high-intensity interval sports, the practice of exercise entails certain muscle damage. The two main reasons are: the use of protein as an energy source and the micro-lesions produced by the thousands of contractions of the muscle fibers.
Protein is the most important macronutrient for the formation and maintenance of muscle mass and, unlike carbohydrates, the body is not capable of storing it.
